Good or bad day??

Today has been very hit and miss!!! So far I have taken bookings worth £1,370 and it is only 12:23. However this is more than balanced out by having just had to have a tooth removed at the dentist! Luckily it's not going to hurt and wont affect our work at all, but it wasn't a very pleasurable experience!!

Preston Park

Phew things have been pretty crazy lately! I started revamping our website a few weeks ago and since then the enquiries have really picked up so I'm guessing people like it a lot more!

Its peak season now as a wedding photographer so everything is busy busy busy with at least one wedding per weekend over the coming weeks, and sometimes two! Although these are on different days as we never do more than one wedding per day - that would be a real push!!

We're doing a Marie & Jamie's wedding this saturday at Preston Park - I'm really looking forward to it as it's such a nice local place, and there is a good deal of variety for the photos with the cobbled back-street and the grounds, as well as inside!

There's one of our earlier photos taken there of Richard & Amy in the grounds.

I'm starting to consider a holiday to Hong Kong in February so that I can make a few investments in camera equipment as the prices there are so much cheaper that it would more than pay for the difference in cost!

Website update

I've just finished updating our website with some much needed new sections. The initial site has served us really well but it only had 4 pages, and the link to the gallery was text based. It's my own fault really as I must admit my HTML skills are really poor, despite teaching myself it back in '97 and writing sites in Notepad - things have changed a little you know!! So now we have a new Gallery section with some nicely sized versions of some of our pictures, as well as a link to the larger versions.

I also added a products page to highlight some of the additional things that we offer - that is going to take some time to get fully up and running but some of the basics are on there for now. I've moved the special offers to their own page which allows us to put more offers on there and update them regularly, added a few testimonials that we have received recently and added a FAQ and a Links page for some additional content. The site is much bigger now, but it really needed it so it's all good!

I am really looking forward to February. I am treating myself to a Canon 1DsMkIII. I came close to buying a MkII before but decided against it last minute, but I think now is the time to take the plunge. To partner it I also plan to buy a 85mm f1.2L lens - I had a go of this beauty once and it was like a dream!

I've had some queries lately around how payment works for our packages. After we meet (meeting is not mandatory, but we prefer it) we usually take a deposit to secure the date. The final balance is then payable 14 days before the wedding, but we can be flexible with this if need be.

With regards to the photo above, I was just thinking how great it is to have a fisheye lens. With a normal lens it's often quite difficult to get the whole of a wedding venue into the picture - you get bits chopped off each side. With a lens like this we get some great shots of the inside of churches, reception venues and of the outside of buildings. This was taken at St Marys Church in Sandsend - tucked away down a side road it was a really nice little place.
